RegularThe RAND Corporation seeks an Accountant to perform General Ledger accounting duties to support the financial transactions at RAND.
Duties
This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate and timely management of the company's cash operations. The position is responsible for processing desktop deposits and recording all financial transactions-including checks/ACH/wires/credit card payments, deposits, withdrawals, bank transfers, client payments, and other ad hoc bank transactions with careful attention to detail and accuracy. The position will also support the integrity of financial records by preparing and recording journal entries, reconciling bank and general ledger accounts, and preparing daily cash position reports. The work helps maintain the organization's financial stability and provides essential insights that guide sound business decisions.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience and understanding of accounting transactions required
- Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently
- Excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to organize workflow in an efficient manner
- Aptitude to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy
- Research, compile, and analyze data for projects/reports as needed
- Experience in non-profit accounting, a plus
- Proficient use of MS Office suite required
- Strong Excel skills; experience with large data sets required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Workday ERP, a plus
Education
- Minimum BS/BA in Finance, Business or Accounting
- CPA / or working towards CPA, a plus
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year related to Business/Accounting experience.
- 3 years of experience is preferred.
Location
- Santa Monica - hybrid work arrangement (2-3 days in Santa Monica office)

Salary Range: $64,400 - $96,100
RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity.The salary range includes base pay plus RAND's sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken).
