Job Summary
Professional nurse who has responsibility for assisting in the counseling and guidance of students through conducting instruction as assigned. The faculty member is responsible to the Course Coordinator. This is a part-time, non-benefitted position.
MAJOR DUTIES
Administrative
- Recognizes and informs Course Coordinator of existing or potential problems.
Instructional
- Assists students in applying nursing theories and evidence-based practice principles in the areas of clinical, skills laboratory, and simulation.
- Supervises clinical experiences as assigned.
- Assists in evaluation materials as assigned.
- Assists in the preparation and implementation of clinical schedules.
- Serves as a role model for students in the professional, social, and civic arena.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Knowledge of Board of Regents policies and procedures
- Knowledge of state and national issues related to higher education and nursing
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
- Effective Leadership skills
- Strong management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Time management skills
- Ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilities
- Operation of computer skills and job-related software programs and equipment as appropriate.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
- Reports directly to the Dean, School of Nursing & Health Sciences
GUIDELINES
- Follows all Board of Regents and the University Systems policies and procedures, ABACs College practices and policies, and ABAC School of Nursing Policies.
- Abides by all Georgia Board of Nursing policies and procedures
- Adheres to all policies and procedures required to maintain accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing
- Adheres to all policies and procedures required by the healthcare facility in which the faculty member is assigned to perform clinical rotations.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- Consists of management duties
- Requires strong leadership and supervisory skills
CONTACTS
- Daily with nursing students as assigned per work schedule.
- Maintains contact with school dean, course coordinator, faculty and staff co-workers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping
- May need to lift or move light objects
- Work is usually performed in a healthcare facility or laboratory/simulation setting
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
License
- Current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia
Competency
- Verification of clinical nursing skills validity upon hire and as required by healthcare agency partners.
