Adjunct Instructor - Fire at InsideHigherEd
Job Description
Under general supervision, the primary responsibility is providing classroom and lab instruction in the Fire programs offered by WCTC. Requires strong organizational skills, good communication skills, an ability to effectively deliver practical hands-on instruction and include technology in the teaching of classes, and familiarity with all aspects of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services fields. Must be accessible to students and maintain positive relationships with industry-related organizations and businesses. The successful applicant will be responsible for completing requirements to obtain and maintain a current teaching certification from the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.

Lab and Certification Exam Instructional Rate $40/hour; Non-instructional $20/hour
Lead instructor $46 - $55/hourCharacteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)In line with the department strategic goals:Effectively engage students in the learning environment through active learning strategies.
Promote and coordinate professional development opportunities for Fire/EMS instructors to further develop their teaching skill.
- Increase marketing of Fire and EMS training programs and prepare competent Fire/EMS providers for local employers.
NOTE: An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired will also be considered.Supplemental InformationThis is a continuous posting. Applications will be reviewed on November 1 and June 1 each year. Teaching demonstrations/interviews will be held shortly after.
*Hours for this position will vary from Monday through Sunday including both daytime and evening hours. Adjunct instructors are expected to teach a minimum of 64 hours/semester (24 hours/summer). Instructors request instructional assignments through a scheduling software at the beginning of each semester.
