Job Description

Job Summary

Provides Hazardous Waste Operation Workers (HAZWOPER) training to students in the Health Physics Technology Program in accordance with Department of Energy and industry standards.

Adjuncts are paid at $900 per credit, and this a 1 credit course.

Typical Job Functions

  • Teaches HPT-102 - 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training
  • Provides instruction and develops related instructional materials (such as syllabus, lectures, course materials, evaluation tools, classroom activities, and others)
  • Coordinates with department leadership to meet program outcomes and coordinate curriculum
  • Coordinates with lab instructor to align lecture topics with laboratory activities for students in The Health Physics Technology Program
  • Holds regular office hours
  • Completes required campus-wide trainings
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree, journeyman license/certification, or technical certificate
  • Completed an instructional (train-the-trainer) HAZWOPER program
  • >1 year experience as an instructor or trainer
  • Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI does not sponsor H-1B Visas)
  • Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher post-secondary degree
  • 3-5 years instructional experience
  • NRRPT (national registry for radiological protection) or CHP (Certified Health Physicist) certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • ________________________________________________________________Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    Sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, gross manipulations (involves hands) and standing or sitting (combination). Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.


    Onsite work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.


    Background Investigations:

    Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225: Background Checks
