Job OverviewPerform master mechanical work; supervise variously skilled mechanical technicians.
Essential Functions- Repair various mechanical equipment such as fans, mechanical seals, bearings, pumps, motors, laboratory equipment, autoclaves, glass washers, water purification equipment, utility systems, and structures. Perform welding and brazing;
- Periodically inspect and test installed equipment for proper assembly of components, check for any needed repairs in compliance with technical orders, blueprints, specifications, manuals and established procedures;
- Repair, trouble shoots complex steam pressure reducing system safety; condensate return devices, steam traps, perform water treatment and testing and apply chemicals. Perform repair of critical laboratory exhaust systems (fume hoods). Inspect hoods for air balance;
- May be required to serve as a lead worker and/or supervise, instruct and train semi-skilled and skilled Air Quality workers and trades people; assist supervisor in allocating work assignments; reviewing and evaluating work performance in training new personnel; coordinate work with other trades;
- Maintain housekeeping conditions as prescribed by area;
- Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Approved certificate from an accredited related apprenticeship program
Two (2) years of related work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement
Required Trainings/CertificationsValid driver's license with an acceptable record
Required ExperienceOne (1) year related experience
