The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care is the leading emergency and prehospital academic Center on the West Coast. One of only four Centers of its kind in the nation, the Center is dedicated to advancing the systems and methods of EMS. We teach, test, and certify the people who care for the ill or injured before hospital admission.

The ALS/BLS Program Coordinator and CPI Educator will coordinate and provide lecture presentations and skills instruction according to American Heart Association and Crisis Prevention Institute standards, along with the courses provided for the UCLA Medical Center and the general medical community. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing demonstrations, acting as a student advocate in the learning process, creating an active learning environment, ensuring course requirements and objectives are met, developing educational objectives and testing methods, and other duties as assigned. This is a 1 year contract position that could convert into a career position.

Salary: $70,900 - $145,200 annually


Qualifications

1. Current certification as an EMT, Paramedic, RT, RN, PA, MD.

2. Baccalaureate degree in health-related field, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services or a related field (preferred).

3. Minimum of one (1) year work experience on an ambulance or in a hospital emergency department.

4. Current provider certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS or NRP from the American Heart Association (ACLS, PALS or NRP must be able to obtain within 3 months of hire).

5. Current instructor certification from the American Heart Association in BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).

6. Completion of NAEMSE/NHTSA EMS educator course, Firefighter IA/IB, American Heart Association "Core" instructor course (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).

7. Detailed knowledge and experience in the application and techniques of clinical equipment and supplies.

8. Working knowledge of the different scopes of practices for EMTs, paramedics, registered nurses, and physicians.

9. Available to work evenings, holidays, and/or weekends.

10. Ability to foster a stimulating classroom environment.
