We are actively seeking an experienced and dedicated Area Manager to join and grow in the PPG organization. The Area Manager will support and manage their assigned site to achieve production goals. The Area Manager will ensure continuity of processes, daily commit expectations, and quality management system standards in a given area within the wax business unit.

  • Plan and organize wax pattern schedules
  • Communicate and correspond with customers regarding shipment expectations, questions, concerns, etc. 
  • Prepare and report to management daily commitments to assigned customers
  • Provide technical support and supervision to area staff members
  • Work directly with Quality staff to ensure quality management system is being followed
  • Engage with the Quality Manager to create a comprehensive internal auditing schedule to ensure wax department staff, quality staff, and shipping are inspecting patterns as required by the quality management system
  • Create and maintain a regularly scheduled quality meeting to ensure all staff members are aware of all quality related information to reduce escapes 
  • Communicate with wax assembly and wax injection managers and shift leads on area status; including but not limited to wax press issues, quality issues, commit status, and all relevant information to ensure smooth transitions from shift to shift
  • Organize and conduct standup meetings to communicate daily and weekly schedule and customer commitment plans
  • Plan and assess weekly employee schedules to ensure coverage for paid time off and call offs
  • Approve and edit employee time cards as required
  • Perform 90 day and annual performance reviews for area direct reports
  • Provide coaching / written discipline as needed
  • Include and engage with quality when coaching staff on scrap or escapes
  • Ensure safety protocols are adhered to
  • Create and maintain area housekeeping expectations to include work area set up
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills, and abilities 

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Three or more years of management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry
  • Experience participating in the external audit process including AS9100D and NADCAP
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with direct reports, management, and members of leadership
  • Ability and willingness to provide leadership, technical support, and training to area staff members at all times
  • Ability and willingness to coach direct reports as needed in a constructive and professional manner
  • Exposure and experience with wax pattern assembly and / or injection preferred
