Average Starting Pay Range $18.00 - $25.00


Day Shift Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm


PTO upon hire, Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits are offered after 90 days of employment, 401K after 6 months


Overview: As an Assembler II/III for Merrill: A Keel Company, you will be tasked with building a variety of small and large job shop products under the supervision of a manufacturing manager. Those with the qualifications to do so may also help guide lower level assemblers in their assigned tasks. On the job training is provided as needed.


Job Functions:

  • Experience managing employees and complex manufacturing tasks with short deadlines in a highly compressed delivery schedule.
  • Solid knowledge of industry specific requirements, standards and specifications.
  • Organizes work area and parts bins to effectively build.
  • Builds using engineering drawings, customer specifications, and hand tools.
  • Keeps work area and tools clean, organized, and in working order.
  • May direct assemblers during the build process depending on level.
  • Assembles very technical components, and works with very tight tolerances on fits (e.g. Bearings, and slide assembly).
  • Proper use of indicators and other measuring devises to insure proper fit and alignment.
  • Accountable for keeping to the schedule and ensuring high quality workmanship. Also may be asked to train level I, and II assemblers (if hired as level III).


Physical Demands: Moderate physical and mental stress. Standing, sitting, twisting, bending, and stooping will be regular occurrences. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance.


Work Environment: Heated shop floor environment, no air conditioning. Exposure to occasional fumes from paint, cleaners, adhesives or similar. PPE use is required. Some minor exposure to debris, dust, or other particulates can be expected.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Five (5) years of experience with machine tool building, complex assembly, or in a related field.
  • Fork Lift and Crane operation credentials, communication and customers’ relations skills, knowledge of GD&T.
  • Engineering drawing reading, standard build practices, fitting tolerances, and use of inspection devices.
  • Must be able to physically lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ideal candidates will not come from a production or assembly line background, but will be experienced in building small run, bespoke, and/or prototype job shop assemblies requiring extensive time and attention to detail per assembly.
