Compensation: $60,000 per year

Position Overview:

Herbert Roofing is seeking an Assistant Accounting Manager to support our fast-growing operations by overseeing daily financial activities and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. This role involves leading a small team, implementing accounting policies, and collaborating across departments to support company goals. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and motivated to improve efficiency and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Review and approve job cost outs to ensure proper financial tracking.
• Support company direction through participation in ad hoc projects.
• Ensure cost accuracy in the CRM used to calculate customer pricing and contracts.
• Maintain and update departmental procedures, ensuring all team members are aligned and compliant.
• Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and ongoing financial analysis.
• Coordinate and support the audit process with external auditors.
• Train, mentor, and supervise accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
• Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• 3–4 years of experience handling a full set of accounts.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Proven ability to lead and support an accounting team.
