Position Details
The Athletic Department at the University of Tampa invites applications for the full-time position of Assistant Coach, Swim. This position will work under broad policy guidance within the University, Sunshine State Conference, and the NCAA. Independent and collaborative analysis will be conducted to solve problems, develop policies and procedures, and complete tasks associated with this position. The assistant coaching position will require individuals to exercise sound judgment in an ever-changing environment.
The Assistant Coach, under the direction of the Head Coach and Athletic Director is responsible for assisting with various coaching, management, and administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of respect for colleagues, faculty/staff and students. Development of skills to engage with those of the cultures and backgrounds.

This position is a 12-month position with the opportunity of annual renewal.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote the philosophy and objectives of the University of Tampa; to include adhering to all departmental policies and procedures as well as the rules and regulations of the University, Sunshine State Conference, and the NCAA.
- Plan, organize, direct and lead operations of the swimming program including but not limited to budgeting, travel, purchasing, and facility usage.
- Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations.
- Plan organize and schedule season of competition.
- Oversee preparation for team travel.
- Implement a recruiting program that is consistent with the University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Attend all practices and competitions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Alumni.
- Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters.
- Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Two years of coaching experience at the college level and/or two years as lead senior club or high school coach.
- Thorough knowledge of NCAA Rules and Regulations for Division II.
- Certification in first aid, CPR, AED or the ability to obtain within the first 90 days.
- Proven ability to teach and coach fundamentals and advanced skills.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with student, staff and faculty.
- Ability to travel, work early mornings and evenings, and some holidays.
- Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn The University of Tampa software programs (i.e. Workday, Slate, Front Rush ).
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovate organizational practices.
