Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Director Financial Aid Ops & Tech on the Gainesville campus. This position will report to the Associate Director within Financial Aid has specific responsibility for leading technical operations, maintaining data integrity of all Financial Aid Student Information Systems (SIS) and SIS document records, process automation improvements and enhancements utilizing existing and new applications and software. Provide support to all members within the department. Responsible to ensure that the goals of the department are met through the timely and accurate implementation of changing federal, state and university regulations and policies.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all aspects of the HOPE/CHECS modules. This includes sending and receiving CHECS related files, ensuring successfully submission of student data, clearing HOPE/CHECS errors, reviewing students for eligibility, updating yearly requirements in the CHECS system, working with the Registrar to accurately reflect student coursework, reviewing reports from GAfutures (GSFC), and supporting the Financial Aid staff.
  • Electronically import, export, process, analyze, maintain, and update financial aid student records; create and run various reports required by the Financial Aid office; conduct Banner testing for upgrades.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Financial Aid with new initiatives for BANNER; taking the lead on evaluating all day-to-day activities of the FA Operations Team for streamlining and increased efficiency; maintain and monitor the FA Operations Team Ticket System; use SQL Reports to support FA staff by providing reports (to lessen dependency on IT)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and other financial aid program regulations and institutional policies.
  • Troubleshoot problems and issues within Banner and systems used external to the university (i.e., COD, CHECS)
  • Assist the Associate Director with verifying end-of-term processing of HOPE and SAP
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of routine office equipment and procedures; knowledge of various software programs; knowledge of financial aid application procedures and forms.
  • Requires effective communication skills; accurate typing/data entry skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population; ability to utilize BANNER or a similar relational database.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Five or more years in Financial aid experience or bank, or compliance.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three or more years working in Banner is highly desirable.
  • Preferred Completion of NASFAA Credentials or the NASFAA Financial Aid Administrator Certification
Proposed Salary

Minimum Starting Salary: $54,778
