Assistant General Manager at Shiraz Kitchen and Wine Bar
Job Description
About Us
Step into Shiraz Kitchen & Wine Bar, where owner Reza Parhizkaran and his team bring together Persian–Mediterranean cooking and an award-winning wine program in the heart of Chelsea. Our restaurant celebrates family recipes, small-production wines, and heartfelt hospitality.
Recognized with MICHELIN Bib Gourmand (2020–2022), The New York Times: Very Good, and a 2024 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence (White Plains location), Shiraz is a warm, lively neighborhood spot — refined yet unpretentious — where guests feel like family and every detail matters.
About the Role
We’re seeking a dynamic Assistant General Manager to join our Chelsea leadership team. The ideal candidate is a skilled operator who balances refined hospitality, creative marketing instincts, and exceptional event management skills.
You’ll partner closely with the Owner/GM to lead front-of-house operations, elevate team performance, and drive guest engagement — both in-person and online — through service, storytelling, and memorable event execution.
What You’ll Do
Lead, coach, and inspire the FOH team with clarity, empathy, and accountability.
Champion hospitality on the floor — anticipate needs, engage regulars and VIPs, and ensure every guest feels valued.
Manage and execute private events, large parties, and media dinners with precision and warmth.
Collaborate with ownership on social media strategy, photography, content creation, and community engagement.
Partner with the kitchen and beverage teams to ensure smooth, high-volume service while maintaining pacing and quality.
Maintain NYC DOH standards and uphold a spotless, organized environment.
Support scheduling, inventory, cost controls, and vendor coordination.
Contribute creative ideas that enhance our brand presence, operations, and guest experience.
What We’re Looking For
A hospitality-driven leader who thrives in a high-energy, culinary-forward environment.
A creative professional comfortable with social media, digital storytelling, and marketing collaboration.
A natural host and event organizer, skilled in planning, communication, and guest relations.
A team motivator who sets high standards and leads by example.
A relationship-builder who embodies generosity, warmth, and cultural appreciation.
Requirements
3–4 years of management experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
NYC DOH Food Protection Certificate (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
Proven ability to manage private events and group dining logistics.
Strong social media and marketing skills (Instagram, content planning, community engagement).
Familiarity with labor, COGS, and inventory reporting.
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Curiosity about wine and enthusiasm for ongoing learning.
Location: Chelsea, New York City
Equal Opportunity Employer: Shiraz celebrates diversity and inclusion across our team.
