Job Description


Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletic Performance/Head Athletic Performance Coach, the Assistant Athletic Performance Coach will support the development and management of athletic performance programs for assigned teams and student-athletes. The incumbent will focus on optimizing athletic performance through strength, power, speed, agility, conditioning, and recovery. The position also requires close collaboration with sport coaches, athletic trainers, and other DIA staff to ensure comprehensive athlete training and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Two years of collegiate coaching experience in athletic performance or a related field. (Preferred)
  • Experience using Smartabase athlete management system or similar performance-tracking platforms. (Preferred)
  • Excellent group presentation and communication skills to engage and instruct diverse groups of student-athletes. (Required)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with coaches, athletes, administrators, and colleagues. (Required)
  • Ability to critically analyze performance data and adjust training programs accordingly. (Required)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook email, calendaring, and athlete management platforms such as Smartabase and Teamworks. (Required)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing shifting priorities and workload demands. (Required)
  • Knowledge of NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations, as well as the ability to comply with all policies and procedures. (Required)

  • Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field. (Preferred)
  • Master’s degree in exercise science, sports science, or a related field. (Preferred)
  • CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or CSCCA (Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association) certification (per NCAA legislation). (Required)
  • Must possess and maintain current certifications in first aid, CPR, and AED use. Proof of certifications must be provided within 30 days after employment. Duties will be limited until certifications are submitted. (Required)

  • Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  • Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
  • CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".
