WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY. The Department of Computer Science invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Computer Science, effective July 1, 2026.
Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required for the position. Qualified applicants will have demonstrated expertise in systems and be able to contribute to an academic environment that fosters learning and growth for all its stakeholders. Preference will be given to candidates who will be able to contribute to an existing area of research focus in the department (artificial intelligence and machine learning, bio- and bio-medical informatics, high performance computing, imaging, security, and software engineering).
Position Summary: This individual will be expected to teach courses in computer science at the graduate and undergraduate level, engage in scholarly activities, participate in departmental, College, and University service, and contribute to the University’s community outreach efforts. Candidates should be able to develop a visible, externally funded research program that expands the Department’s research expertise or synergistically supports current research groups, within a setting that values high-quality teaching and mentorship of both undergraduate and Masters level graduate students. The standard teaching load is a total of four courses (2+2) each academic year. The Department prides itself on engaging students in and out of the classroom, providing rich opportunities for students to work closely with faculty members in their scholarship, and is highly supportive of interdisciplinary engagement.
