Assistant Professor, History


Position Summary:

The Department of History at Rollins College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in non-Western history beginning August 2026. The area of interest is open, but MAY include Latin America, Asia, or Africa and MAY NOT include Europe or the US. Preference will be given to candidates with more than one area of geographic specialty and a wide temporal range. The teaching load is a 3:3.

Minimum Qualifications and Education: 
  • PhD degree in History in hand by August 1, 2026.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, preferably in the liberal arts.
  • Verifiable teaching experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with more than one area of geographic specialty.

    Employment Eligibility:

Further, based on the September 19, 2025, Presidential Proclamation and accompanying guidance from the USCIS and Department of State, the College may not be able to offer H-1B sponsorship. Particularly the College is not able to pay the $100,000 payment accompanying new H-1B visa petitions.
