Assistant Professor in Health Sciences

Coastal Carolina University, Department of Nursing and Health Sciences, within the Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance, is seeking applications for an assistant professor to teach in person health sciences courses. This position will address instructional needs in the Nursing and Health Sciences Department, starting in August 2026. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in educating undergraduate students in introductory health courses, which may include including pharmacology, microbiology, and pathophysiology for health professionals. Additionally, qualified candidates may have the opportunity to teach in other areas aligned with their expertise. A doctoral degree in a related discipline is required. Preferred qualifications include experience in instructional settings and working with college students.

Required Qualifications:

Must hold a doctoral degree in a related discipline, and exhibit strong potential for excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in instructional settings and working with college students.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge: Strong health sciences foundation, familiarity with curriculum design, developing and assessing undergraduate health sciences programs, including experiential learning and clinical/field placements, knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research, scholarly writing, and grant development.Skills: Ability to teach undergraduate courses in health sciences, including labs and field experiences, using varied modalities (in-person, online, hybrid), Skill in guiding students academically and professionally, including research projects and career development, experience designing and updating course content to reflect current trends and interdisciplinary perspectives, competence in evaluating student performance and program outcomes, proficiency with LMS platforms, and digital communication, and ability to work on committees, contribute to program assessment, and engage in community/public outreach.Abilities: Commitment to student success, engagement, and retention, willingness to collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners, adherence to ethical standards and academic honesty, openness to evolving pedagogical methods and institutional priorities, dedication to professional development and scholarly growth.
