Job SummaryPosition: Assistant Professor of Chemistry (Organic)
- Full-time, 10-month contract (August 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027); 4/4 teaching load with the possibility of summer teaching.
- This is a tenure-track position.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a variety of courses in the Department of Chemistry, Geology and Physics including supporting courses in the core curriculum, and as assigned.
- The ability to teach organic and introductory chemistry.
- Actively engage in research and scholarly activities to contribute to the academic excellence of the department, college, and institution.
- Provide dedicated advising and mentorship to students as assigned, fostering their academic and professional growth.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to service through active participation in departmental, institutional, and professional activities.
- Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, and Administration.
Required Qualifications
Doctorate is required in Organic Chemistry or related field by the time of appointment. ABD will be considered.
Preferred QualificationsPreferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching college-level courses in Organic Chemistry and Introductory Chemistry (lectures and labs).
- Experience teaching First-Generation students.
- Experience collaborating across disciplines.
- Experience coordinating students in experiential learning opportunities, internships, and High Impact Practices (HIPs).
- Expertise in teaching inorganic, medicinal, forensic, or other areas of chemistry beyond organic and introductory chemistry courses.
Salary Range
$60,000 - $65,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
