Department InformationAs the most extensive collegiate dance program in Georgia, the KSU Department of Dance is distinguished by its blend of rigorous and holistic classes, professional-level training, and wide-ranging performance opportunities that foster artists/scholars. Advantageously located in metro Atlanta and accredited by The National Association of Schools of Dance, our well-rounded and affordable program emphasizes artistic excellence, creative research, and scholarly achievement. We present innovative performance seasons that feature student and professional companies who perform in state-of-the-art facilities designed exclusively for dance. Students work closely with our accomplished faculty and are provided with many opportunities to work with guest artists from regional, national, and international settings. Students from our program pursue successful careers in a range of professional settings in dance and the performing arts.
Job SummaryKennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Dance in the Department of Dance with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
ResponsibilitiesWe seek an outstanding dance artist/scholar with a demonstrated record of artistic accomplishment, an established professional reputation in contemporary dance performance and choreography, and a clear trajectory for future excellence in teaching, scholarship and/or creative activity.
- Teaching undergraduate courses in choreography, dance technique, and/or other topics and approaches that align with the candidate's area of specialization.
 - A teaching load is three courses per semester.
 - Choreograph, or stage performance works on undergraduate dance majors.
 - Maintain an active peer-reviewed body of research/creative agenda.
 - Sustain a visible presence in regional, national, and/or international dance communities.
 - Department/College/University/professional service is expected.
 - Additional departmental responsibilities include student success initiatives, recruitment, curricular development, and participation in department and university activities that serve programmatic goals and the mission of the university.
 
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
 
M.F.A or Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Dance, or a related discipline is required at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications- At least three years of collegiate teaching and mentoring experience.
 - Established record of professional experience in the field.
 - Engagement with creative practices that integrate technology, media, and/or interdisciplinary performance.
 - An active research portfolio of peer-reviewed scholarship/creative activity.
 - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
