Position Description:The Department of Communication Studies at Texas State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Interpersonal Communication. Candidates’ teaching and research expertise should include interpersonal communication and quantitative research methods. This tenure-track position will involve teaching, research, and service responsibilities. Employment will begin in August 2026.
Required Qualifications:- PhD in Communication Studies or a Communication-related field.
 - Prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate quantitative research methods.
 - Evidence of specialization and preparedness to teach interpersonal communication, including related interpersonal topics (e.g., relational communication, family communication).
 - Demonstrated record of departmental, university, professional, and community service.
 
- Evidence of sustained and impactful scholarship.
 - Experience or potential for external grant funding.
 - Evidence of dedication to professional and/or instructional development (e.g., teaching workshops, involvement in professional organizations).
 - Prepared to teach, mentor, and conduct service in multiple modalities, especially face-to-face, but also in hybrid and online.
