Job Description

The Department of History and Political Science at Mississippi College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Political Science to start in the Fall 2026 semester. Associate Professor candidates will also be considered for the role of Department Chair, which comes with a course reduction and stipend.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach four courses per semester, three if department chair.
  • Hold office hours for student advising and mentoring.
  • Curriculum and program development.
  • Participation in departmental and university governance structures.
  • Active involvement in scholarly activities.
  • Play a key role in graduate program development.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Political Science strongly preferred
  • D.P.A. with qualifications to teach courses in American Government will be considered
  • Primary field must be United States Government
  • Additional experience in Public Administration or Public Policy is desired
