The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is accepting applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Sociology with a focus on criminology to begin Fall 2026.
The successful candidate should have an active research agenda that takes a sociological approach to crime, law, and/or social control. Secondary interests that complement other departmental strengths, including race, family, (im)migration, or the environment would be particularly welcome.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in sociology or related field by the start date, a strong record of research and publications that demonstrates potential for extramural funding, skills in theory and qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, and a clear commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students.
The standard teaching load is two courses per semester.

- Applicant must demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence, strong research and publication skill, and future research productivity.
- The ability to carry out an original research agenda related to crime, law, and/or social control.
