Job Summary:
The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Cleveland State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position from individuals who specialize in School Psychology. The appointment will begin on August 17, 2026. The department’s goal is to appoint an applicant who will best contribute to the department’s undergraduate program, the department’s School Psychology (MA, PsyS) specialization program, and other departmental programs as appropriate.
The appointee will be asked to conduct a research program that includes mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; to teach undergraduate and graduate courses; and to engage in department, college, and university service. Cleveland State University is located in a large metropolitan area that allows for research collaboration with major medical centers, local school districts, and local community organizations. Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree in psychology or a closely related field by July 1, 2026. Persons who are ABD will be hired at the rank of Instructor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A record of scholarship in school psychology commensurate with experience;
- Potential for securing external funding for research or record of securing external funding commensurate with experience; and
- Potential for, or record of, successful teaching. We welcome applicants with a wide range of research and teaching interests within school psychology. While we are open to all areas of expertise, our program would particularly benefit from (1) scholars with expertise in assessment, especially in reducing disproportionalities in special education referrals and eligibility, as well as in (2) behavioral assessment.
