Prime + Proper Detroit is seeking passionate and knowledgeable Assistant Sommelier candidates to join our team.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic professional who will support our Sommelier and Management teams in delivering an exceptional wine and dining experience. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow in wine service and leadership within a high-performing hospitality environment.

As an Assistant Sommelier at Prime + Proper Detroit, you will:
  • Support the Sommelier and management team in all aspects of wine service and program execution.

  • Deliver exceptional table-side wine service and guest engagement.

  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory, cellar organization, and product rotation.

  • Collaborate with the team to ensure seamless coordination between the wine program, bar, and dining room.

  • Participate in staff education, tastings, and ongoing training initiatives.

  • Help drive sales and uphold our commitment to excellence in hospitality.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of hospitality or restaurant experience; fine dining experience is a plus.

  • Strong local hospitality knowledge and a genuine passion for guest connection.

  • Introductory or Certified Level coursework completed through The Court of Master Sommeliers (or equivalent).

  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining composure and focus.

  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

  • Strong organizational habits for inventory, cellar maintenance, and wine cost management.

  • Desire to innovate, collaborate, and grow with a dynamic team.
