DISTRIBUTION/MARKETING POSITION AVAILABLE
Department of Marketing, Industrial Distribution, and Economics
Collat School of Business

The Department of Marketing, Industrial Distribution, and Economics (MIDE) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an active record of high-quality research, effective teaching, and a commitment to a collegial academic environment. While primary teaching responsibilities will be in Distribution courses, applications from candidates whose qualifications also support contributions to the closely related undergraduate marketing and MBA programs will be especially well received.

Candidates for this position should:

  1. hold a doctoral degree, or have completed all requirements for the degree by Fall 2026, in marketing, supply chain management, or a closely related field;
  2. demonstrate a strong commitment to research and teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in areas such as business-to-business marketing, channels of distribution, sales, supply chain management, or marketing strategy;
  3. contribute to the department’s strategic growth initiatives, which include: (a) production of high-quality impactful research, (b) new curricula and program development, (c) advancement of innovative pedagogical approaches, (d) heightened student and community engagement, (e) expansion of the CSOB funded research

About the Charles and Patsy Collat Distribution Program

The Charles and Patsy Collat Distribution (DB) Program at UAB was established in 1993 and is the university’s first endowed academic program, offering two specialized degree tracks:

  • The Engineering track is a joint program between the Collat School of Business and the School of Engineering equips students for professional roles in industrial and technical distribution, particularly within B2B supply and manufacturing sectors.
  • The Medical Products track, offered jointly by the Collat School of Business and the School of Medicine, prepares students for professional roles in the medical equipment, devices, and supplies sectors.

The Distribution program has a strong record of success built on high standards for student admission, endowed funding, and active research collaborations with industry partners. The program features highly engaged faculty, innovative coursework, and a dynamic learning environment that fosters meaningful interaction between students and industry executives.
