Associate Attorney Municipal Prosecution & Local Government Law at Mahoney, Silverman & Cross, LLC

Mahoney, Silverman & Cross, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney (0–4 years of experience) to join our well-established and highly respected Local Government Law Practice Group. The successful candidate must be licensed to practice law in Illinois and will play an active role in representing municipal clients, including handling misdemeanor and petty traffic and ordinance violation prosecution in the Will County Courthouse. This is an exciting opportunity for a newly licensed attorney who is enthusiastic about courtroom work, municipal law, and community engagement, with the support and mentorship of a collaborative, team-based environment. Key Responsibilities: Represent municipalities in prosecuting misdemeanor traffic and ordinance violations Appear regularly in local courts for trials, hearings, and motion practice Draft pleadings, perform legal research, and prepare legal memoranda Provide legal counsel to local government clients on a range of municipal matters Attend client meetings and public hearings (occasionally outside of standard business hours) Actively contribute to the legal community and the communities we serve Preferred Qualifications: 0–4 years of legal experience; municipal or traffic prosecution experience preferred Licensed to practice law in Illinois (Required) Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school (Required) Strong academic record; please include law school GPA on resume Excellent verbal and written communication skills Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Strong legal research and analytical skills Willingness to work across multiple practice areas and participate in after-hours events Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: Less than 1 year Salary: $85,000 - $120,000 Annual Bonus/Commission: Yes
