Department Summary

UCLA’s Economics Department has two interlocking objectives. We conduct cutting edge research by developing new methodologies and applying them to understand society’s most critical issues. We also seek to train the next generation of economic leaders in the private sector, government and academia.UCLA is one of the top-ranked economics departments in the world. We have a young and active faculty whose research is shaping policy and informing the public on critical issues affecting the United States and the world. Our work covers a diversity of topics such as the origins and persistence of the Great Depression and its lessons for today’s economy, the relationship between education and health outcomes, cartels and antitrust policy, the economics of health care, and the impact of immigration on labor markets. Many of our faculty have received special recognition for their body of research by election to prestigious institutions such as the National Academy of Science, the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and the Econometric Society, or have received such celebrated awards such as the Guggenheim and Sloan Fellowships.Our undergraduates are equally impressive. They are among the brightest students on campus and consistently go on to find success in the job market and in graduate school. We have approximately 3300 majors at any one time making us the largest among major economics departments across the country and the largest major on campus. Our students come from over 60 countries around the world yet the majority call California their home. Many of our students are the first in their families to attend college and we are proud of them and their accomplishments.Our Alumni play important roles in business, entertainment, and academia. Position Summary

The Master of Quantitative Economics (MQE) is an innovative graduate degree program designed to equip students with the quantitative and analytical skills necessary to solve complex challenges in today’s business and policy environments. The Associate Director of Outreach plays a key role in advancing the visibility, reach, and impact of the MQE program through strategic engagement with employers, prospective students, universities and community organizations. This position advances the strategic needs of the MQE by building strong industry partnerships, creating meaningful recruitment pipelines, and connecting students to internship and career opportunities. The Associate Director will independently develop and manage mutually beneficial relationships with employers, alumni, and industry leaders to identify job and internship opportunities, organize targeted career events, and strengthen the program’s reputation as a source of high-quality quantitative talent. In addition, the Associate Director will organize and implement outreach and recruitment initiatives to attract and engage prospective students, working closely with MQE team members to increase awareness of the program through events, marketing, and partnerships. The incumbent will also engage with prospective students to provide information about the program, answer questions, and offer campus tours when needed. The Associate Director will advance outreach and marketing strategies that enhance MQE’s visibility among both employers and potential applicants, contributing to the program’s continued growth and success. This role requires creativity, strategic communication, and the ability to cultivate relationships across academic, corporate, and community settings. Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • three years Strong background in project management, setting priorities and goals, developing operation plans, analyzing problems, determining solutions, meeting deadlines, and managing through implementation (Required)
  • three years Proven success working collaboratively across a complex academic unit to advance new programs and priorities. (Required)
  • three years A minimum of three years of experience in student affairs, program development, or academic program support and coordination. (Required)
  • Strong knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques, occupational, career and employment information resources. (Required)
  • Demonstrated expertise in the labor market, employment trends, and recruitment strategies and techniques, specifically relevant for Economics students. (Required)
  • Ability to support and maintain critical long-term liaison relationships with diverse populations and organizations, staff of all levels, employers, faculty, students and alumni on behalf of the Department of Economics. (Required)
  • Advanced analytical / problem-solving skills, and project management skills. (Required)
  • Evidence of presentation skills to present career/program/training information to small and large groups. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement projects with complex logistics involving multiple tasks and priorities. (Required)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with diverse clientele. (Required)
  • Proficiency with computers in a windows based environment. (Required)
  • Displays exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrates tact and diplomacy, utilizing strong public speaking skills, listening and interpretive skills. (Required)
  • Familiarity with student service philosophy and ability to work with colleagues in planning and providing student services. (Required)
  • Ability to develop positive relationships; demonstrate excellent customer service and teamwork skills; and work collaboratively with employers, key University partners and staff. (Required)
