Job Description

Little Bar – the intimate cocktail lounge and sister property of Halifax Restaurant is seeking an experienced and charismatic Bartender to join our team.  Nestled just steps from the Hudson, Little Bar is known for its handcrafted cocktails, curated spirits, and warm, neighborhood energy that blends sophistication with approachability. 

As part of the Halifax family, our bartenders embody hospitality at its finest - delivering genuine, engaging service while showcasing skill, creativity, and attention to detail behind the bar.

Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service
  • Greet and engage every guest with professionalism and genuine warmth.
  • Create an inviting and energetic atmosphere while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide tailored recommendations for cocktails, wines, and spirits.
  • Uphold all service standards, including presentation, pacing, and proper check-back etiquette.
  • Handle guest concerns with discretion and solution-oriented communication.
Cocktail Preparation & Beverage Execution
  • Prepare all classic and signature cocktails accurately according to recipes and presentation standards.
  • Consistently execute batch preparations, infusions, and garnishes ahead of service.
  • Maintain product knowledge of seasonal cocktails, wine, beer, and spirit offerings.
  • Ensure precise measurements and consistency to control beverage cost.
Bar Setup & Maintenance
  • Complete daily opening and closing checklists, ensuring readiness for service.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of bar stations, tools, and glassware.
  • Restock inventory efficiently during and after service.
  • Conduct weekly deep cleaning tasks as assigned
Team Collaboration
 
  • Communicate effectively with owners
  • Support Little Bar’s monthly cocktail class programs when scheduled.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to new team members when applicable.

Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in a craft-cocktail or upscale hospitality setting.
  • Exceptional knowledge of spirits, classic cocktails, and mixology techniques.
  • Strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment while maintaining grace and precision.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and guest engagement abilities.
  • High attention to detail in presentation and cleanliness.
  • Working knowledge of POS systems.
  • Must possess a valid food handler and alcohol service certification (or obtain upon hire).
