POSITION TITLE: FACILITY ENGINEER 1
Purpose: Oversees and/or performs routine, preventive, and maintenance on building systems at facilities and provides an environment that is safe for members and staff.
This position consistently supports compliance and Kaiser Permanente’s Code of Conduct by adhering to federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives.
Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary lo provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors.·
Accountabilities: Performs routine maintenance and repair in facilities including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems in accordance with Regional Facility Standards, State, and Federal life safety codes.
1	Basic computer skills, lo include, at least, Windows, Excel and Word.
2	Performs maintenance and repairs at assigned facilities as directed by a Maintenance Supervisor.
3		Assures proper operation of building systems, to maximize equipment reliability and energy efficiency, and performs, plumbing, carpentry, and minor electrical work
4		Works independently to troubleshoot building systems problems and necessary action; when difficulties occur, requests assistance from Facility Engineer II.
5	Performs all Environmental and Safety tasks in accordance with appropriate Occupational, Safety, and Health and Environmental Regulations.
6		Operates facilities in accordance with Local, Stale, and Federal EHS Regulations as well as best management practices and procedures.
7	Documents steps or measures taken in performing tasks ln accordance regulations.
8		Participates in the EHS assessment process and performing the necessary tasks or operations to achieve compliance with assessment recommendations.
9	Serves as liaison/contact person for outside contractors and vendors.
	10. Insures the upkeep of building grounds. Reports to proper authority observations of any condition(s) that need alien around the exterior of the buildings, including parking lots and garages.
11	Understands the Theory of Operation of BAS and the specific sequence of operations of the systems in each building where assigned.
12	Responds to facility problems during working hours and while on call.
13	Assists and serves as backup lo Facility Engineer, II.
14	Maintains complete and accurate building equipment inventory
15	Monitors and follows-up on preventive maintenance vendors.
16	Performs other duties within their field class as assigned by immediate supervisor.





Minimum Requirement - Relevant Years of Experience:
o	Five years of experience in the maintenance and repair of building systems in medical or industrial facilities lo include: three years of HVAC experience, including working with chillers both n£r nnd water cooled, package units, direct expansion,
	split systems and variable refrigeration system: and two years' experience working with and performing maintenance on boilers or similar, and related equipment is required.
