About the Role:
The Café Assistant & Cashier plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service within a healthcare and social assistance environment. This position is responsible for managing daily café operations, ensuring a welcoming and hygienic atmosphere for members, visitors, and staff. The role requires handling cash transactions accurately and efficiently while maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. The Café Assistant & Cashier will collaborate closely with kitchen and service staff to provide timely food and beverage service that meets dietary and nutritional guidelines. Ultimately, this role contributes to a positive experience for all café patrons, supporting the overall mission of the healthcare facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a customer service or food service role.
- Basic calculation experience and handling cash transactions.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent.
- Experience working in a healthcare or social assistance environment.
- Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe).
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Multilingual abilities to assist a diverse customer base.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver excellent customer service by greeting guests warmly, processing transactions accurately, and addressing inquiries or concerns professionally.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with established health, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including dining spaces, counters, and equipment.
- Support inventory management by restocking supplies and promptly reporting shortages or issues to management.
