Café Manager
Status: Full-Time | Salary $65,000–$85,000

Experience Required: 2 years management experience  in café, bakery, or fast-casual concepts

About the Role

The Café Manager leads daily operations, ensuring each team member and guest experiences the heart of our hospitality. This person helps create and drive culture, maintain standards, and keeps the café running seamlessly—from scheduling and cash reconciliation to vendor coordination and community engagement.

The ideal candidate balances people and process: they inspire their team, uphold cleanliness and consistency, manage costs and inventory with precision, and help grow our local presence through events and off-site catering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Culture & Team Building
  • Build a positive, inclusive, and high-performing café culture rooted in care, communication, and accountability.
  • Lead with presence—setting the tone for warmth, professionalism, and hospitality.
  • Hire, train, and coach baristas, cashiers, and shift leads to maintain standards and grow within the company.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and inspiring workspace where everyone takes pride in their environment.
Operational Excellence
  • Maintain daily café standards—product quality, cleanliness, and guest experience.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to ensure consistent supply and minimal waste.
  • Oversee cost control measures, including labor, COGS, and overtime management.
  • Track and reconcile Toast POS data daily, including drawer counts, cash handling, and payment reporting.
  • Assist with developing and implementing systems to make the day to day operations run smoothly and efficiently. 
  • Submit accurate timesheets, approve PTO requests, and ensure smooth payroll processing.
  • Lead opening and closing procedures, including end-of-day drawer reconciliation and deposit tracking.
  • Conduct regular deep cleans and maintain DOH/FDNY compliance at all times.
Community & Growth
  • Build relationships with regular guests and foster a sense of belonging.
  • Partner with local businesses and community groups to strengthen our neighborhood presence.
  • Collaborate with the teams to execute catering orders and off-site events that reflect our values and service standards.
  • May be asked to represent us with pride at all external activations, markets, and brand events.
Administrative & Reporting
  • Manage weekly and monthly inventories with accuracy and accountability.
  • Create and manage schedules aligned with labor budgets.
  • Complete all required reports, including POS reconciliations, cash logs, and vendor invoices.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and grow a team culture
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing a café, bakery, or high-volume casual concept
  • Strong understanding of POS maintenance and cash reconciliation processes
  • Experience managing labor, scheduling, and cost control
  • Experience with wholesale and catering a plus
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid NYC Food Handler’s Certificate preferred but not required
  • Passion for hospitality, baked goods, and creating meaningful guest experiences
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $65,000–$85,000 annually
