Job Description

Cafe Manager – TUCKSHOP NYC

Coffee. Toasties. Good Vibes.

Who We Are

TUCKSHOP is an Australian-owned coffee and toastie café — a nod to our favorite toastie spots back home and a brand-new concept for NYC. We’re bringing a new slice of Aussie café culture to the West Village, keeping things simple, casual, and consistent: great coffee, amazing toasties, and genuine hospitality.

We will be opening our first store on West 11th Street (and it’s a stunner) this coming Winter. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join the team — a chance to help build and shape this brand from the ground up as we expand across the city. You’ll be the heartbeat of TUCKSHOP — leading the team, ensuring smooth operations, and creating a culture that’s warm, upbeat, and authentically Aussie.

What We Offer

  • ? Competitive hourly rate, with potential for bonus structure
  • ? 15 days paid vacation days throughout the year
  • ? Employees earn 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked (can be used towards holidays if not used)
  • ? Free lunch every shift
  • ā˜• Unlimited coffee (yes, even on days off)
  • ? Day shifts only – balance matters, weekends are required
  • ? Growth opportunities as we expand, we want your help
  • ? Supportive, social team culture
  • ? Creative input – influence menus and seasonal specials
  • ? Health benefits ($400/month contribution)

About the Role

You’ll run daily operations — managing staff, maintaining high food and coffee standards, and ensuring every guest leaves happy.
This is a hands-on, floor-based leadership role with a balance of operational and admin responsibilities.

  • 5 days per week, including weekends
  • Typical shift hours can range between 6am – 5pm
  • Admin time scheduled during quieter periods

What We’re Looking For

  • 4+ years in food service, 2+ years in management
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Experience with Square, QuickBooks, or similar systems
  • Hands-on, organized, and proactive
  • Food Handler’s Certificate

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and motivate the team – including onboarding all staff
  • Oversee daily service and ensure consistent quality whilst working on the floor
  • Manage scheduling, inventory, and vendor relationships
  • Maintain cleanliness and compliance standards
  • Monitor costs: sales, labor, COGS and waste and work with ownership on profitability and ideas
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences every day
  • Stay up to date on all permits, labor rules and DOH standards

Compensation

  • $25 - $28 per hour + potential for bonus structure
  • 15 days paid leave per year

If you love coffee, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to be part of a new Aussie-inspired concept in the West Village — we’d love to hear from you.
