Job Description
Position OverviewThe Student Community Action Corps Program facilitates the engagement of KU students with various community organizations, programs, or support in community-engaged efforts. Student employees will support their partner organization and/or program with various tasks and projects while receiving monthly training and support from Center for Service Learning staff.
The CSL Program Assistant will provide general support to the CSL team and engage in relevant projects of specific interest to the individual student informed by the needs of the Center. Job DescriptionIndividual project/focus as determined by team needs and student interests/strengths (40%)
Outreach/Promotional Activities (30%)Student employees must be Federal Work Study-eligible. Excellent and accurate typing skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to complete projects independently with attention to detail as evidenced by application materials. Basic experience with general office work and use of Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Excel) as evidenced by application materials. Preferred Qualifications

Outreach/Promotional Activities (30%)
- Represent CSL at campus and community events to promote student engagement in community-engaged activities and encourage community nonprofit collaboration with KU
- Disseminate information about community service opportunities, civic engagement, and CSL resources through tabling and flyering across campus, social media, etc.
- Document and track participation, turnout, impact of CSL promotional activities
- Assist with event/program planning and facilitation as appropriate
- Support management of opportunities posted on behalf of community nonprofit organizations on CSL volunteer.ku.edu and Handshake platforms
- General office support, including preparing printed and digital materials/products
- Explore and support applications to funding opportunities, including grants.
- Participate in meetings and trainings led by CSL staff
- Maintain compliance with university employee policies (time reporting, etc.)
- Participation in relevant professional development and presentation activities, including the CSL’s annual Service Showcase
- Interest and passion for community service, civic engagement, advocacy, etc as evidenced by application materials.
- Willingness to learn new things, build relationships, and apply feedback from supervisors as evidenced by application materials.
- Attention to detail and ability to review and input data with accuracy as evidenced by application materials.
- Adaptability and flexibility to new tasks, settings, and opportunities as evidenced by application materials.
- Ability to take initiative and work both as a team and independently based on the task as evidenced by application materials.
