Chef de Cuisine at Sam's Graces Cafe

Sam's Graces Cafe in Petsokey, Michigan is a full service scratch, brunch and lunch cafe that includes a full bar and full espresso bar. Currently we are hiring an experienced individual who can manage daily operations, hire, train, maintain and promote a coopertative team enviornment. This position will also assist in expanding hours into dinner service. Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains all kitchen operations including ordering, scheduling, costing and food preparation Assists in recipe and menu development Ensures safety conditions by correcting unsafe conditions in a timely manner Conducts and enforces staff safety training for food, supplies and equipment handling Maintains high standards of food quality, service and cleanliness Maintains a professional relationship with vendors Reads, understands, and adheres to all present and future policies, rules and procedures Maintains kitchen equipment in excellent working condition Must be knowledgable of state and federal laws regarding employee and customer health and safety and maintain records Qulifications: Must have extensive knowledge of European cuisine and scratch cooking methods. The Chef must possess strong administrative and organizationsl skills as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on business demands and staffing needs. Education and Experience: Culinary degree preferred and/or a minimum of 5 years working as a Chef/Sous Chef Prior managment experience Must be Food Handler Certified or able to obtain a certification upon hire Basic computer skills are required Ability to operate heavy duty industrial kitchen equipment Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perorm the essential functions of this job.
