Position: CNC Mill/Lathe Machinist

Compensation: $30.50 $42.50 per hour (based on experience and skill level)
Shift: 2nd Shift
Location: Ohio

Job Overview

Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking skilled and motivated CNC Mill/Lathe Machinists to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced machinists or those with a solid foundation in CNC machining to work with state-of-the-art equipment and produce precision components for the aerospace and defense industries. In this role, youll do more than just operate machines; youll perform setups, make program adjustments, and take ownership of quality and craftsmanship in every part you produce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to produce precision components according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions accurately.
  • Perform complete and partial setups, including tooling, fixturing, and program offsets.
  • Adjust tool offsets, feeds, speeds, and work coordinates to ensure optimal part quality and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot machining and dimensional issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation for setups, inspections, and production activities.
  • Monitor and maintain tooling condition, replacing or adjusting tools to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and assist with machine repairs when necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to share knowledge, solve problems, and continuously improve processes.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required (per Department of Defense regulations).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Proven experience setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes.
  • Basic G-code programming knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with precision inspection and metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Positive, solution-oriented mindset and a genuine desire to grow and advance in the machining trade.
