Commercial Litigation Attorney at Direct Counsel

Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of substantive litigation experience, particularly in complex commercial matters. This role involves working closely with senior attorneys and partners on all phases of litigation, including legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, managing discovery, preparing for trial, and client communication. The position offers significant responsibility and meaningful client contact early on, with strong mentorship and a clear growth track.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, and discovery documents

• Assist in strategy development for complex litigation cases

• Take and defend depositions

• Prepare for hearings, arbitrations, and trials

• Attend court appearances and participate in case management conferences

• Analyze documents, evidence, and legal issues with attention to detail

• Support senior attorneys in managing case dockets and deadlines

• Communicate with clients regarding case updates and strategies

Qualifications:

• JD from an accredited law school (Classes of 2021 or 2022)

• Admitted to the California Bar and in good standing

• Strong academic background and demonstrated excellence in legal research and writing

• Prior experience handling complex commercial litigation, ideally at a large or mid-sized law firm

• Excellent oral advocacy and interpersonal skills

• Strong work ethic, initiative, and ability to manage multiple priorities

• Enthusiasm for litigation and a desire to grow professionally within a team-oriented firm
