Position Overview
We are seeking a Commercial Roofing Estimator to join our team in Columbia, SC. This role is critical in evaluating project scopes, preparing competitive and accurate cost estimates, and supporting the overall project lifecycle—from bid submission to pre-construction handoff. The estimator will play a key role in supporting our sales and operations teams while maintaining strong relationships with contractors, property owners, and suppliers.
Primary Responsibilities
Analyze blueprints, specs, and site conditions to develop detailed cost estimates.
Prepare and submit formal proposals to general contractors and private clients.
Draft project documentation including show drawings, submittal letters, and compliance forms.
Conduct job take-offs and core cuts as needed for accurate scope of work.
Maintain an organized personal bid log and support forecasting of potential work.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, walk-throughs, and field assessments.
Track cost effectiveness by comparing estimated vs. actual costs.
Assist with product selection, budgeting, and subcontractor/vendor coordination.
Serve as a technical resource for internal departments and external clients.
Support cross-functional teams with information, analysis, and timely follow-ups.
Qualifications & Skills
3+ years of commercial roofing or construction estimating experience preferred
Strong knowledge of low-slope roofing systems (TPO, PVC, EPDM, Modified, Built-Up, etc.)
Ability to read blueprints and interpret project documentation
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (The EDGE, PlanSwift, etc.)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders for roof inspections
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
