Definition: As a part of the ATCAA team, the Communications Manager plays an essential role in ATCAA as a whole. Under direct supervision by the Executive Director, the Communications Manager provides cause-driven leadership for ATCAA’s communication, marketing and outreach needs. This position oversees content development and dissemination of information considering and using the most effective tools to reach a target audience while adhering to budgets and other fiscal considerations. The Communications Manager will promote, support, and advance the mission, vision and sustainability of ATCAA and as assigned, any of ATCAA’s Outreach & Education grants and projects by consistently delivering professional, accurate and timely messaging, branding and advocacy.

Supervises: Interns, volunteers, contract or temporary help on an as needed basis.
Job Duties and Responsibilities to This Position
- Deepen and refine all aspects of communications: from print and digital presence to external relations including recognition with constituencies and the media;
- Seek opportunities to help drive the conversation and increase awareness of the organization’s work;
- Oversee the concept, design, and budget for production of deliverables, media and marketing needs for agency programs, projects, initiatives and campaigns;
- Create, oversee and monitor the design, development, content, and maintenance for all ATCAA related websites including ATCAA.org, MyCalEITC.org, YESPartnership.net, CentralSierraCOC.org and any additional sites related to specific campaigns or initiatives;
- Manage digital and internal donation and/or ticketing platforms on website or in person in conjunction with ongoing fundraising efforts, campaigns, or events;
- Produce or oversee production of content and dissemination of information including development of traditional content such as press releases, PSA’s, videos, out of home print as well as digital content, messaging, advertisements, and announcements;
- Oversee posting, monitoring and engagement for all ATCAA’s social handles on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter;
- Integrate social media campaigns into larger marketing strategies by overseeing the creation of all content and defining target strategies such as micro and geo-targeting, reviewing analytics, analyzing data and adjust as needed to align with campaign goals or agency mission;
- Creates, maintains and monitors content across all ATCAA’s social media platforms. Works with team as necessary to collaborate on content.
- Designs, develops and disseminates printed and digital materials for all ATCAA services;
- Works with the ATCAA team to enhance agency recognition with constituencies, including the media by attending meetings, cultivating ongoing communication with partners, and actively seeking out and executing media opportunities;
- Assist with fundraising and fund development efforts as assigned;
- Compile and provide content and tracking performance for organic, paid and earned media as needed;
- Creates and maintains forms, surveys and/or other information gathering tools;
- Research, advise and implement emerging technologies as appropriate;
- Stay informed and share current initiatives, programs and events;
- Maintain outreach calendar, media and partner lists;
- Assist in staffing, coordinating and providing equipment and materials for outreach events and opportunities;
- Work as a member of the team and willingly provide back-up support for other management staff and co-workers when appropriate;
- Assist in budgeting and reporting requirements as required;
- Coordinates and maintains recordkeeping, logs, receipts, files and reports;
- Provide support in grant writing, research and data compilation as needed;
- Coordinates and oversees special projects as assigned;

- Work in partnership with all ATCAA staff and volunteers to provide high quality customer service and to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services;
- Complete other tasks as assigned which are consistent with the definition and intent of the job description.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills with a familiarity of MS Office 365 (Cloud), social media management, graphic design skills, and website design basics;
- Possess excellent speaking and writing skills;
- Ability to create, post and manage print and digital content across platforms including web, social channels and in print;
- Knowledge or a willingness to learn various digital communication and design software including the WIX website platform, Adobe Suite products, Canva, Meta Business Suite, Microsoft Forms or other forms software, Google applications and other social, web, photo editing, video editing and digital design applications;
- College level courses or professional experience in communications, design, marketing, social media management, website management or related fields;
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced setting;
- High level of organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Experience with project planning, management, implementation and tracking;
- Experience in databases and/or excel spreadsheets for data management and extrapolation;
- Skill in independently organizing work, handling multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and working/coordinating well with others;
- Ability to travel and work out of both service centers as needed; and to travel to and participate in meetings, events or other duties as assigned that may be local, regional or out-of-town.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in current traditional marketing and outreach methods and knowledge or willingness to learn emerging technologies;
- Knowledge and experience with local community outreach and engagement;
- Experience in article writing, ad copywriting, basic graphic design, website design and photo and video editing.
