Position Summary
Responsibilities include overseeing the management of a residential neighborhood that houses 400-800 students; supervising a Program Assistant (administrative assistant), graduate apprentice, and residential student staff; maintaining daily student contact through shared meals, mentoring, facilitating programs and initiatives, and developing student leadership opportunities; co-chairing the neighborhood association with a live-in faculty member; collaborating with staff and faculty members in living learning communities; developing community programs; serving as a student conduct hearing officer; serving as a student care and outreach responder, including in an on-call capacity, and serving in leadership capacities for departmental efforts.

Minimum Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in any relevant field of study with minimum 1 year of experience with the following relevant work experience: Completed bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of post-bachelor's experience required. Completed master's degree in higher education, student personnel, or related field and 1-2 years of experience (including graduate assistantships/apprenticeships) in Residence Life or a related functional area in higher education strongly preferred.

Job Duties
- Administration and Supervision
- Responsible for total administration of a residential neighborhood within one's area of supervision.
- Maintain accurate operational records regarding occupancy, room changes, maintenance requests, damage billing, laundry repair, etc.
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate undergraduate student staff, a Program Assistant and depending on the neighborhood, a graduate assistant.
- Living and Learning at Elon
- Facilitating Community Development initiatives, as directed by Residence Life, such as developing the annual Neighborhood Plan, first six weeks, and ongoing residential programs.
- Partner with others to enhance student engagement and success, and faculty/student interaction in the residential neighborhood.
- Student Care, Response, and Follow-Up
- Serve as a member of a Student Life Care and Response Team, which includes serving in a rotational on-call emergency response role.
- Serve as a student conduct hearing officer and support the divisional protocol regarding the student code of conduct.
- Provide appropriate referrals for students regarding academic, social, and psychological concerns.
- Residence Life Departmental Support
- Promote, implement, assess, and provide leadership to the student staff for the departmental community development model and oversee residential neighborhood budget.
- Manage assigned department projects/initiatives and support divisional and departmental goals. Support departmental strategic planning, goal setting, priority completion, evaluation and assessment, and data-driven decision making
- Additional Responsibilities
- Create strong partnerships within the Student Life division and with other department's on-campus, including faculty, security/campus police, dining services, academic support services, Facilities Management, and administrative offices.
- Support university events, including, but not limited to: Convocations, Commencement, Family Weekend, and events related to Admissions and/or New Student Orientation Serve on university, divisional, or departmental committees, task forces, and search committees Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Departmental Marketing and Communications
- Oversee Residence Life department marketing and communications strategies to enhance visibility and engagement.
- Lead the development and implementation of marketing initiatives for housing operations, including social media, digital campaigns, and print materials.
- Coordinate recruitment marketing for student and professional staff processes, ensuring alignment with departmental values and goals. To accomplish this work, annually serve on the Housing Operations Committee and Recruitment Selection Training and Development committees to collaborate on the annual recruitment process and to promote a consistent departmental and housing operations brand.
