Community Food Accessibility Programs Intern
Start date of 5/1/26
CUPHD's Division of Maternal and Child Health seeks an intern (10-20 hours/week) to assist with a variety of food accessibility initiatives, including the Free Markets, the Summer Food Service Program, the Give Back Garden, and CU Farm to School.The selected candidate would ideally be able to assist with needs covering both the Summer and Fall, but candidates will be considered for either semester. Internship experiences may include: food and resource distribution, minor food preparation and meal planning, inventory management, garden maintenance activities, marketing (social media, signage, etc.), and other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidate qualifications:
* Background in nutrition/dietetics, community/public health, gardening/horticulture, and/or marketing/communications
* Available on Wednesdays 12-4pm and Fridays 12-4pm
*Strong customer service skills
*Able to lift 50 pounds
*Able to bend over to weed, plant, harvest
* Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions
* Willingness to get dirty and/or wet while working
*Competent computer skills (Microsoft 365 suite, Canva, social media platforms)
* Speak Spanish and/or French
* Possess active Food Handler's or Food Safety Manager certification, or willingness to obtain Food Handler's license within 15 days of internship start (CUPHD will pay for basic licensure)
