Labor Category I, II, III, IV

STARTING: 2 weeks after being offered and accepting a position

LOCATION: Crane, Indiana 47522 – Naval Surface Warfare Center

PAY RATE: Please see each labor category below

STATUS: Contingency Opportunities both full-time and part-time

SSC: Active Secret Security Clearance (required)


DEL REY Systems & Technology, Inc. headquartered in San Diego, California is looking for Computer Engineers in various levels for both full-time and part-time positions. The location is in Crane, Indiana at the Naval Surface Warfare Center. Job Description:


Computer hardware and software engineers’ research, design, develop, and test computer hardware and software programs. Hardware refers to computer chips, circuit boards, computer systems, and related equipment such as keyboards, modems, and printers. Computer software engineers develop the software systems that control computers. Computer hardware engineers work exclusively with computers and computer-related equipment. In addition to design and development duties, computer hardware engineers supervise the manufacturing and installation of computers and computer-related equipment. Computer software engineers develop new computer software systems and to incorporate new technologies in a rapidly growing range of applications. Computer software engineers apply the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that enable computers to perform their many applications. Software engineers analyze users’ needs and design, construct, test, and maintain computer applications software or systems. Computer software engineers can be involved in the design and development of many types of software, including software for operating systems and network distribution, and compilers, which convert programs for execution on a computer. They also solve technical problems that arise. Software engineers must possess strong programming skills, but are more concerned with developing algorithms and analyzing and solving programming problems than with actually writing code. The programming languages most often used are C, C++, and Java, with Fortran and COBOL used less commonly.

Minimum Qualifications per Labor Category:

Computer Engineer I $23.68/hourly

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics with field of concentration in computer science
  • No required professional experience

Computer Engineer II $28.84/hourly

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics with field of concentration in computer science
  • 3 years of professional experience in computer design, software development or computer networks

Computer Engineer III $34.28/hourly

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics with field of concentration in computer science
  • 7 years of professional experience in computer design, software development or computer networks.

Computer Engineer IV $36.82/hourly

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics with field of concentration in computer science
  • 7 years of professional experience in computer design, software development or computer networks.


Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with FPGA and ASIC design and development.
  • Familiarity with software programming languages such as C, C++, Python or Tableau
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and system security principles.
  • Professional certifications related to computer engineering or hardware design.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test computer hardware components including processors, circuit boards, and memory devices.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate hardware and software systems effectively.
  • Analyze system requirements and develop specifications to meet performance and reliability standards.
  • Conduct research to innovate and improve existing computer engineering technologies and methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and system issues to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Document design processes, test results, and system configurations for future reference and compliance.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement improvements.

Skills:

The required skills enable you to design and develop hardware components that meet precise technical specifications, ensuring system efficiency and reliability. Proficiency in hardware description languages and circuit simulation tools allows you to create and validate complex designs before physical implementation. Preferred skills such as programming knowledge and familiarity with networking enhance your ability to collaborate with software teams and address system integration challenges. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for diagnosing issues and optimizing system performance. Continuous learning and adaptability help you stay abreast of technological advancements, driving innovation in your daily engineering tasks.
