                                DescriptionContinuing Education InstructorSalary: $50/hourClassification: Part-Time Hourly/ExemptReports to: Director of Continuing Education
Olympic College is seeking to hire a Continuing Education Instructor. The main purpose of this position(s) is to teach non-credit classes offered by Olympic College Continuing Education(CE). Topics will vary based on the expertise of the person – some currently desired topics are ballroom dancing, astronomy, and IT. CE instructors are not covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement for faculty.
The instructor will create a proposal for a class that is appropriate as a continuing education topic, with curriculum, the length of the class, outcomes, and class materials organization. The incumbent will work with CE staff on securing days, dates, and times for class offerings. They will be expected to prepare the class, teach the class, and assess student satisfaction with the class. Continuing Education fulfills part of the college’s legislated purpose, which includes offering classes in the community for fun and enrichment. The incumbent will report to the Director of Continuing Education, located in the Workforce & Economic Development (WFED) division.Essential Functions(Proven) (Documented) Expertise in the topic area, either through experience or education

Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement. This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with a salary of $50.00. They are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire but could qualify for the following.
Deferred Compensation Program (DRS) retirement savings plan; TIAA supplemental retirement savings plan, sick leave, paid holidays, Aflac, space available tuition waiver, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), fitness center, reduced rate, and priority consideration on-site childcare on a space available. - Researching and building a class appropriate for continuing education
 - Completing and submitting the Course Proposal Form
 - Identify and determine any out-of-pocket expenses that will be incurred by students
 - Using OC protocols and procedures, create an appropriate curriculum for a class
 - Curriculum development will include clear Outcomes and instruction hours
 - In coordination with CE Program Specialist, determine class location, and classroom size needed, and identify resources necessary to run the class
 - Communicate with other OC departments regarding after-hour and weekend classes (Security), Parking Permits (Security), teaching station (IT), and other identified departments
 - Prepare the classroom for teaching
 - Availability to advise potential and enrolled students about class deliverables, expectations, and any out-of-pocket expenses that will be incurred
 - Assess student satisfaction with the class
