A plaintiff-focused California employment law practice is seeking a dependable Contract Attorney Case Manager to own one or two active employment matters. If you're a mid-level litigator who thrives with autonomy, values structure, and takes pride in high-quality work without the chaos of a bloated docket, this role is for you.
You'll manage client relationships, discovery, filings, and critical deadlines while partnering with the firm's lead attorney on strategy and key milestones. This is ideal for attorneys seeking meaningful work, flexible hours, and the independence to control their practice.
What You'll Do
- Own daily workflow and case management for 12 employment litigation matters
- Draft and file pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and client correspondence
- Maintain organized case files, track deadlines, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks
- Manage client communication and coordinate with opposing counsel
- Collaborate with the supervising attorney on litigation strategy and progress updates
- Handle remote coordination calls and provide regular case status reports
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Active California Bar license in good standing
- 35 years of civil litigation experience (employment law preferred)
- Strong legal writing, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency with case-management platforms (Smokeball, Clio, Relativity, or similar)
- Professional, reliable, and self-directed comfortable working independently
- Commitment to accuracy, follow-through, and client service
Preferred:
- Plaintiff-side employment or wage/hour litigation experience
- Familiarity with remote collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro)
- Experience managing multiple deadlines and stakeholder communication

$85$95/hour (based on experience)
