Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
Our client is a well-established general contractor that has been successfully delivering commercial and residential construction projects for over 10 years. Known for their commitment to quality, integrity, and client satisfaction, they are entering an exciting growth phase and are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the financial operations of the company.

The Controller will serve as a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial management functions. This role will ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial information, support project managers with job costing and analysis, and provide timely and insightful reporting to drive strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has strong experience in the construction industry, particularly with job costing, WIP schedules, and project-based accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Manage and maintain job costing processes to accurately track project profitability and performance.
Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports and reconcile project financials monthly.
Partner with project managers to monitor budgets, change orders, and cost-to-complete forecasts.
Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
Oversee year-end audit and coordinate with external accountants and advisors.
Support leadership in evaluating business performance, identifying trends, and improving financial efficiency.
Implement and optimize accounting systems and software to improve reporting and transparency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including construction industry experience.
Strong working knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and construction accounting principles (GAAP).
Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Foundation, Viewpoint, or similar).
Proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools.
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Proven ability to balance strategic insight with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
