What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking ForUnder the direct supervision of food service management, prepares hot and/or cold food for the campus community, including catering for special events. Incumbents may perform broad food preparation duties or focus on a specialty area (i.e. “Baker”, etc.). Communication skills are employed to interact with supervisor, co-workers, student trainees and the public. Incumbents are responsible for maintaining County/State/Federal health codes, customer satisfaction and accurate work results that are noticeable by the customer (i.e. food quality, wholesomeness, presentation, merchandising, portion control and maintenance of departmental food standards). May direct the work of student and casual employees assigned to work in the area.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience preparing food in a high production commercial food
service environment.
Food handler’s card required (please confirm that you have a food handler's card in your cover letter).
Knowledge of safe operation of commercial food service equipment, including deep fryers, ovens, cook tops, slicers, etc. is required. Knowledge of County/ State/Federal health and safety codes and regulations pertaining to commercial food service operations is also a requirement of this job.
Preferred Qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this
position. Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.
- 1 year + experience in catering and/or commissary experience.
- Proven ability to work independently or within a team.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Catering experience.
- Cash handling experience.

How We Determine Initial Salary PlacementThe first two steps of the range are: $40,0811 to $41,285 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.
