Extended Job Title Correctional LVN Position Description Employees in this classification are responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care activities in an assigned correctional facility. They function within their legal scope of practice and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization and practice setting. Work is performed under the direction of a registered nurse as part of a total correctional managed health care team in providing safe and competent care to patients. Requisition ID 42968BR Travel Required Up to 25% Pay Grade Maximum 38 Major/Essential Functions Collect, monitor, and accurately report patient data to detect changes in condition, aiding in the identification of health concerns and the development of individualized care plans. Prepare and skillfully operate medical equipment and instruments necessary for examinations, treatments, and clinical procedures. Assist with or independently perform patient exams and procedures to provide timely and thorough care. Administer medications or support medication administration following established safety protocols. Evaluate and triage patient care requests promptly to ensure proper prioritization and coordination of treatment. Conduct nursing rounds across assigned areas to monitor patient status and respond to healthcare needs efficiently. Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall patient care and facility operations. Grant Funded? Experience operating in a dynamic health facility under the direction of supervising nurses. Required Qualifications Current Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position . Current CPR certification. Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX- PN) on the first attempt. No experience required.
