THE POSITION

The State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Forest is seeking a motived individual to join our incredible team as a Corrections Plant Mechanic. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Plant Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing boilers and related equipment that generate steam heat and hot water. You will maintain and repair water and steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressor equipment, water expansion tanks, and standby generators. Along with these technical responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to train inmates in plant mechanic work, providing valuable skills and experience to individuals in the correctional system. Your role also includes enforcing custody and security regulations to ensure the safety and security of all individuals involved.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in performing skilled mechanical repair work involving heavy machines; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from high school; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
