Position Summary

As a Counter Server at The Weather Room, you’ll be part of a hospitality team delivering exceptional service at one of New York City’s most iconic destinations. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, take pride in creating memorable guest experiences, and are passionate about food, beverage, and service.

You’ll be responsible for welcoming guests, taking and preparing orders, and maintaining a clean, organized space. With a focus on efficiency, warmth, and attention to detail, you’ll help bring our distinctly New York menu to life—whether it’s morning coffee service or evening cocktails in the clouds.

This is a guest-facing role that requires strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to excellence in every interaction.

Candidates must be available for weekday evening service (4:00pm - 1:00am) and all-day weekend service (Saturday and Sunday) to be considered.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly and provide a welcoming, professional first impression.
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently using POS system.
  • Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages to standard.
  • Assemble and serve food items according to presentation and portion guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the counter, service areas, and equipment.
  • Monitor inventory levels and restock supplies as needed throughout the shift.
  • Handle cash and card transactions securely and responsibly.
  • Answer guest questions about menu items, ingredients, and allergens.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and bar teams to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Uphold health, safety, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by supporting colleagues and leadership.
  • Adapt to high-volume periods while maintaining composure and quality service.

Work Experience & Education Requirements

  • 1+ years’ experience in food service
  • Familiarity with Toast POS preferred
  • NYC Food Handlers Certificate required within 30 days of hire

Essential Functions 

  • Able to lift up to 25lbs
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Polished and professional personal presentation, inclusive of proper hygiene and grooming requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Able to work a variable schedule including some nights, weekends, and holidays per the needs of the business
  • Ability to walk, stand, carry, and bend for up to eight (8) hours
  • Able to maintain all health and safety regulations
