Credentialing Specialist for Mental Health Practice (1099 Contract)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Credentialing Specialist to join our mental health practice on a 1099 contract basis. This role is essential in ensuring that our therapists and practitioners are appropriately credentialed and compliant with all insurance payers, supporting the smooth operation of our mental healthcare services. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the credentialing and re-credentialing process for mental health practitioners, including therapists, counselors, and psychiatrists
- Collect, review, and verify licensing, certification, and educational documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date credentialing files in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Coordinate with licensing boards, insurance companies, and other relevant agencies to ensure timely credentialing
- Track expiration dates and renewal requirements to prevent lapses in provider credentials
- Assist with onboarding new practitioners by ensuring all credentialing requirements are met before the start date
- Maintain detailed records of credentialing activities and prepare reports as needed
- Stay informed about changes in credentialing standards and healthcare regulations affecting mental health providers
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in healthcare credentialing, preferably within mental health or behavioral health settings
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, licensing requirements, and insurance credentialing processes
- Proficiency with credentialing software and Microsoft Office Suite
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in healthcare administration is a plus
