Position Overview

A respected, value-driven Midwest law firm is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join its legal team and take on meaningful, high-stakes work in Northeast Iowa and surrounding communities.

This senior-level role requires significant jury trial experienceapplicants without courtroom background will not be considered. The ideal candidate will be a confident oral advocate with a passion for client-centered representation and a strong commitment to justice.

  • Base Salary: $150,000+, with performance-based bonuses

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in felony and misdemeanor jury trials, from

  • arraignment through verdict

  • Develop comprehensive defense strategies across a broad range of criminal charges
  • Draft motions, negotiate with prosecutors, and advocate during hearings and sentencing
  • Guide clients through complex legal proceedings with professionalism and empathy
  • Collaborate with support staff to deliver effective case management from intake to resolution

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice in Iowa (or ability to

  • obtain quickly)

  • Minimum 5 years of criminal defense experience, with proven jury trial experience
  • Excellent courtroom presence and confident oral advocacy skills

  • Strong file management and organizational abilities

  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to ethical, client-focused practice
