DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform cleaning duties throughout the facilities. Your work will involve performing deep cleaning procedures of resident rooms, common areas, offices, and other areas at the center. You will mop and sweep floors, move and dust furniture, clean and sanitize restrooms, and empty and dispose of waste. Your duties will also include restocking supplies, disposing of infections waste, and cleaning debris from sidewalks including snow during the winter months. As a member of the custodial staff, you will use and mix chemicals from label instructions, as well as clean and rearrange resident rooms prior to occupation. Additionally, you will maintain a safe working environment and report all problems and unsafe conditions to supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are as follows, with rotating days and weekends:
    • 1st shift: 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM
    • 2nd shift: 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Willing and able to work in Allegheny County, PA
  • Able to work 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM and/or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, buffing, etc.)
  • Experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
  • Experience cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
